SLEEPING ANIMALS
THE TIME MACHINE
Inspired by H.G. Wells' Time Machine, which questions our relationship with time, David Chevallier's quartet brings together contemporary jazz and 17th-century instruments.
The Time Machine follows the construction of Wells' novel, each chapter inspiring composition and improvisation. This original conversation, using only instruments from the Baroque period, creates a totally new and ultimately timeless sound.
SLEEPING ANIMALS
Double bassist Sarah Murcia joins forces with Mat Maneri, Bruno Ducret and Christophe Lavergne to create Sleeping Animals, an ambitious project combining strings and drums. She explores micro-tonality, polyrhythm and influences ranging from free jazz to punk rock. A unique quartet, both powerful and delicate, in which each musician fashions a shifting language, abolishing the boundaries between the written and the improvised.
