Drummer Dennis Charolles, co-founder of the Compagnie des Musiques à Ouïr and since then the driving force behind a multitude of hybrid and interdisciplinary projects which always place improvisation at the core of their approach, created this trio in spring 2018 with an orchestration that is as atypical as it is tightrope-walking. Gathering Sophia Domancich's ‘gentle dreamer’ piano – constantly driven by a kind of implicit swing even in pure abstraction, and Christiane Bopp's virtuoso trombone – revealing in her acute mastery of the dramaturgy of timbres all the influences her universe owes to the contemporary domain, around Charolles' alternately noisy, vibrating and powerfully pulsating drums, the trio develops in momentary vignettes a music of constantly exciting emergences.
