LOCO CELLO
FEAT. BIRÉLI LAGRÈNE
Armed with his wild cello, François Salque embarks on a journey from Eastern Europe to Argentina with his collaborator of over a decade, Samuel Strouk, and fellow musician Jérémie Arranger. The trio weaves links between classical, jazz and world music, and by inviting guitarist Bireli Lagrène, confirms the gypsy side of its sound. Through Samuel Strouk's compositions, the band pays tribute to the master of the genre, Django Reinhardt, and reminds us of the ease with which the three-fingered guitarist navigated between classical music and his gypsy compositions. The journey doesn't stop there, however, and you might be surprised to hear a tango by Piazzolla, Mendelssohn's adagio, a Liederkreis by Robert Schumann or a Hungarian csárdás.
