Undoubtedly one of the most secretive and essential artists on the American avant-garde jazz scene, Angelica Sanchez, when not venturing her piano into the most varied contexts alongside musicians such as Tony Malaby, Wadada Leo Smith, Nicole Michell or Marilyn Crispell, is developing her own music, as lyrical as it is hieratic, and of great poetic power. For this quite unique concert, the pianist is invited to engage in a dialogue with British double bassist Barry Guy and Spanish drummer Ramon Lopez, two major figures on the European improvised music scene, with a long history together. There's no doubt that Sanchez, with her eruptive and kaleidoscopic style, will find the right angle to join forces with this organic rhythm section, all senses awakened.

A major figure on Berlin's avant-garde jazz scene, whether leading his own Philm quartet or as part of the molten matter of Oliver Steidle's group The Killing Popes, saxophonist Philipp Gropper loves nothing more than to renew his inspiration by venturing ever further into the ultra-contemporary interzones left behind by established genres. As proof, this new group, comprised of Italian singer Gaia Mattiuzzi, drummer Moritz Baumgärtner, electronic wizard Grischa Lichtenberg and cellist Elisabeth Coudoux, who explore the boundaries of experimental electronica, free jazz and noise rock, creating unlikely composite and abstract soundscapes, and literally inventing a new language, at once expressionist, cerebral and violently impulsive.
