PAUL BROUSSEAU,
MATTHIEU METZGER
SOURCE
A long-standing complicity unites pianist Paul Brousseau and saxophonist Matthieu Metzger, whose Source can be traced back to their joint participation, during the 2000s, in various groups by Marc Ducret and Louis Sclavis. Both virtuoso instrumentalists and erudite musicians, they consciously place their artistic approach in the field of jazz and its history, but are resolutely open to all music forms that participate today on the borders of its evolution (metal for Metzger; electronics for Brousseau). It is however in the form of a totally acoustic duo that they have recently decided to explore their common territories - embodying their quasi-telepathic understanding in a suite of impressionist miniatures, at once elegant, sophisticated and deeply intimate.
