[NA]
From the militant Afro-American free jazz of the 60s and 70s to the various mutations of the punk and no wave movements and the radical energy of European free music, it is the libertarian, irreverent spirit that has permeated all the alternative forms taken by the most unpolished experimental music over the last fifty years that the Strasbourg-based group [NA] have chosen to celebrate and revive in their joyously insurrectionary music. Propelled by the ethnic grooves of drummer Selma Namata Doyen, criss-crossed by the electric zebras of Raphaël Szöllösy's devastating guitar riffs and lifted by the jagged lyricism of Rémi Psaume's alto and baritone saxophones, the [NA] power trio offers organic music that is both poetic and political, where Africa and the West unite their revolts in a single liberating gesture.
