LAGON NOIR
Lagon Noir was born out of two love affairs. One between Quentin Biardeau and Valentin Ceccaldi, both insatiate explorers of new forms taken by jazz in these times of widespread intercultural blending, and the other between the singer Ann O'Aro from Reunion Island and the percussionist Marcel Balbone from Burkina Faso, both busy turning their respective traditions into new mutations under the multiplying prisms of post-modernity. Lagon Noir explores territories as uncertain as they are corrosive, constantly pushing stylistic boundaries to create a mutant music that brings together (free)jazz, Afro Beat, Mayola, Ouagadougou folk and psychedelic pop. A new language, hybrid, syncretic and inventive – to express the baroque and violent beauty of our creolised 'All-World'.
