It's been years now that cellist Didier Petit and violist Guillaume Roy have been exploring the same areas of improvised music without the opportunity to engage in a dialogue specifically exploring their affinities. This is what they have recently undertaken, finding the basis of their understanding in this shared way of engaging their respective instruments, both emblematic of the Western scholarly tradition, in a whimsical and libertarian process of 'deterritorialization'. Here joining forces with Basque singer Kristof Hiriart – a great improvising vocalist who builds bridges between popular oral traditions and experimental sound theatre – they create in situ music that is lyrical, playful and fundamentally free.
