Bringing together four visionary musicians from Paris, Brussels and Berlin, Eggs, Stairs & Shells is an intrepid exploration of rhythm, form and improvisation. Bo Van Der Werf, Samuel Ber, Elias Stemeseder and Felix Henkelhausen fuse their distinct compositional voices into a dynamic collective, where pulsations, fluid textures and open structures shape music that is both precise and unpredictable.

Each of the five pieces in the Puzzle imagined by double bassist Hélène Labarrière is inspired by a great emancipating and inspiring figure: Jane Avril, Angela Davis, Emma Goldman, Louise Michel, Thérèse Clerc. To recreate the overall image of this project, five players, driven by a desire to have fun with the irregular contours of the elements: around Hélène Labarrière, Catherine Delaunay on clarinet, Robin Fincker on saxophone, Stéphane Bartelt on guitar and Simon Goubert on drums play and frolic between loyalties and novelties, irregularities and irreverences, women's stories and jazz memory in total freedom.

For this new creation, Franco-German double bassist Pascal Niggenkemper has chosen to emphasize groove, rhythm with free passages in concise structures, and freedom in his playing. For this singular project, he entrusts the batons to the great Gerald Cleaver, and is joined by the highly creative keyboardist Liz Cusak and French saxophonist Sakina Abdou, a true rising star of today's jazz scene.
