FRANÇOIS CORNELOUP & SERGE TEYSSOT-GAY
MATIÈRE NOIRE
Having come across each other at festivals and discovered deep elective affinities, saxophonist François Corneloup and guitarist Serge Teyssot-Gay, both used to hybrid and experimental orchestral settings, have decided to engage in a musical dialogue in the form of a completely improvised duet. Combining the energies and sonorities of their respective instruments in long atmospheric sequences in which timbres, textures, flows, shapes and pulsations end up as a single, molten material to be shaped collaboratively in the moment, the two musicians venture into uncharted territories that are fundamentally outside their habits, finding in the production of a shared sound a transitory space in which to inhabit and develop a shared discourse.

PUNK MOON
A virtuoso singer with a clear and precisely articulated voice, but also a complete artist - playful, embodied, theatrical - constantly striving to convey meaning through sound, Claudia Solal is never more inspired than in the ultra-refined setting of the telepathic duet she has formed with pianist, composer and arranger Benjamin Moussay for the past 25 years. Delving into the depths of their intimate little theatre through a series of original songs of great dramatic subtlety, the musicians explore the twists and turns of a hybrid universe referring in turn to jazz, progressive rock, contemporary music and free improvisation - the former in search of the inner music of words; the latter attentive to transcribing in the subtle curve of his phrases the emphasis and dynamics inherent in the flow of the spoken word.
This concert marks the release of the album Punk Moon on the Jazzdor Series label.
