COLIN VALLON TRIO
SAMARES
A prominent figure on the rich Swiss scene since the turn of the millennium, pianist Colin Vallon has made the canonical piano/double bass/drums formula the preferred vehicle for his music, which is both expressionist and contemplative. Together with double bassist Patrice Moret and drummer Julian Sartorius, he has developed a collective and truly egalitarian conception of this ‘love triangle’ with its multiple combinations. Valon creates a musical landscape that is both cinematic and atmospheric, profoundly original in its relationship to space and duration. Lyrical, harsh, sensual, deeply organic, rooted in the moment and curiously timeless – the ‘art of the trio’ by Colin Vallon has established itself as one of the most unique and stimulating in contemporary jazz.
