TOM ARTHURS & GIOVANNA PESSI
A trumpeter of impressive virtuosity, erudition and open-mindedness, Britain's Tom Arthurs has explored all registers of today's experimental music, whether flirting with jazz, contemporary or improvised music. Here joining forces with Swiss harpist Giovanna Pessi, who, when she abandons the early music repertoire of her instrument, likes to take it into the less formatted realms of contemporary music, as shown by her partnership with pianist Christian Wallumrod. Combining their references and their imaginations, the two artists work on an eclectic repertoire combining Handel, Ugandan music and the songs of Chile's Violetta Parra, a music which is fascinating in its desire to break down borders.
