Over the course of varied projects, pianist and composer Roberto Negro never ceases developing a personal universe as attractive as it is unclassifiable. He's now taking a step further by offering with Newborn an unprecedented encounter between the free improvisation trio he's been part of for a few years — with percussionist Michele Rabbia and double bass player Nicolas Crosse — and a small chamber ensemble comprised of musicians from the 'Ensemble Intercontemporain'. Combining acoustics and electronics in an organic music with hybrid textures, Roberto Negro signs a score that is both erudite and instinctive, making the most of both worlds and never sacrificing the spontaneity of gesture to formal abstraction.
