ORCHESTRE PHILHARMONIQUE DE STRASBOURG & PAUL LAY TRIO
As brilliant a pianist as he is erudite, Paul Lay has made a habit of making his own voice heard through creative projects confronting our modernity with the great figures of the past. Leading his own trio and joined by the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg conducted by Wayne Marshall, Paul Lay this time pays tribute to the great American composer George Gershwin with his own version of the famous Rhapsody in Blue concert piece, as well as a number of standards he orchestrated for the occasion. The Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg will then bring to light the visionary character of two pieces by Kurt Weill (Symphonic Nocturne from Lady in the Dark) and Leonard Bernstein (Fancy Free), each in their own way bridging the gaps between the energy of jazz and the sophistication of Western symphonic music.
