DAS KAPITAL + BESSON/STERNAL/BURGWINKEL TRIO
DAS KAPITAL
Danish guitarist Hasse Poulsen, German saxophonist Daniel Erdmann and French drummer Edward Perraud come from a wide range of aesthetic backgrounds, and over the past 20 years, under the banner of Das Kapital, they have formed a resolutely avant-garde internationalist brigade. Virtuously embracing the entire language of modern jazz and contemporary experimental music in a lyrical, spontaneous synthesis of great expressive power, the three musicians return to the radical, totally improvised gesture of their beginnings. Pulsive yet sophisticated, their music transforms the dark, disquieting tones of our tormented times into an extraordinary explosion of life, with a unique blend of tension, depth and lightness.
BESSON, STERNAL, BURGWINKEL TRIO
SURPRISE !
Pairing French trumpeter Airelle Besson with two eminent figures on the young jazz scene in Germany - pianist and keyboardist Sebastian Sternal and drummer Jonas Burgwinkel - this trio, whose instrumentation is as precious as it is perilous, has chosen to base the singularity of its music on the eloquence of understatement and the dynamics of emptiness. Through brief forms arranged with a real sense of dramaturgy, the three artists offer a whole nuance of moods - from lyrical pieces with melancholic tones magnified by the minimalist elegance of the trumpet's song, to mischievous stylistic exercises highlighting the art of groove and punctuation of the drums and the sense of architecture and space of the keyboards.
Our Jazzpassage events are Franco-German evenings programmed in partnership with Offenburg's Kulturbüro, with the support of AJC.
