After making a name for himself in recent years as the leader of a cosmopolitan quintet whose energies and hybrid forms are perfectly representative of the young Berlin scene – of which he has been one of the key players for almost a decade – saxophonist and composer Musina Ebobissé is now introducing a new ensemble and a new repertoire that will undoubtedly open up new horizons for his music. Still supported by saxophonist Olga Amelchenko, but propelled by a rhythm section comprised of some of the most prominent musicians on the young French jazz scene, Musina Ebobissé develops, through cleverly labyrinthine compositions, an acoustic and organic music of great lyrical power, at once anchored in the post-Coltranian heritage and in tune with the pulse of the times.
