Created in 2015 by three young musicians from Zurich, UASSYN is at the forefront of a Swiss scene which is now more open than ever to the world. Carried by the sensual and sharp lyricism of alto saxophonist Tapiwa Svosve, and propelled by the cleverly destructured grooves of a rhythmic section full of intensity, this mutant trio offers collective and libertarian music that is at the same time anchored in a certain jazz tradition by its faith in improvisation and its sense of interplay, and definitely connected to the pulses and sounds of the most contemporary urban music. Switching between expressionist sequences made of abstract montage-cuts and free improvisations of great organic cohesion, UASSYN manages to capture the most intimate tensions of our present in all their nuances.
