LOST SONGS
Francesco Bearzatti & Federico Casagrande
Italian saxophonist Francesco Bearzatti came up with the idea of inviting his compatriot, guitarist Federico Casagrande, to work with him on a collection of confidential melodies, in order to save from oblivion what’s a series of short pieces composed over the years to mark intimate events in his life, like poems thrown into a school notebook. Moving away from the hybrid nature of his previous projects, which lyrically revisited all kind of styles borrowed from contemporary jazz, the saxophonist, here magnificently supported by the harmonic richness of his companion's guitar, explores the duet idiom in its purest form, putting his great instrumental technique at the service of these 'lost songs' and expressing their emotional quintessence with a moving humility.
