Brooklyn-based French saxophonist Jérôme Sabbagh always had a soft spot for the ascetic trio form, and a particular fondness for the energy and electric tones of the guitar. This is undoubtedly the reason why he decided to resurrect the band that he had brought together around his saxophone in 2010, along with Daniel Humair's gestural and pictorial drums and New Yorker Ben Monder's refined as well as eruptive guitar. In this unusual orchestral context, at once profuse, luxuriant and driven by a dull tension, Jérôme Sabbagh's lyrical saxophone, both inhabited by the entire history of jazz and connected to the most intimate pulsations of the time, unfolds in light volutes the paradoxical depth of his ‘skin-deep’ chant.
