GRÉGORY DARGENT
SOLEIL D’HIVER
For this solo creation with his oud, Grégory Dargent questions the nostalgia of a father driven out of Algeria as a child in 1962, and a distant personal belonging to the Arab world. During a series of residencies in Morocco, Egypt, Lebanon, Greece and Iraq, he recorded, filmed and photographed time spent in these countries where the oud is familiar. In Soleil d'Hiver, images and sounds brought back from these journeys accompany his instrument, augmented by electronic effects and magnetic tape, to create a multi-layered universe.
ORCHESTRE NATIONAL DE JAZZ
WITH CARLA
The inaugural program of Sylvaine Hélary's tenure as Artistic Director of the Orchestre National de Jazz, “With Carla” revisits the protean universe of the American composer, offering a panoramic journey in 11 tracks, from her “hits” to orchestral frescoes, via gentle or humorous songs, chamber moments and unbridled rhythms. Inspired by the cabaret form, this quasi-operatic creation aims to resurrect the influence of the woman who was the model for many musicians, and celebrates her work by approaching it in a new light. A creation embracing all musical cultures, where spirit of freedom, fantasy and comic power rub shoulders with rigor, exacting standards and originality.
