PROJET BARTOK
PROJET BARTOK
A pianist with an elegant and erudite style, achieving a natural synthesis between several currents of modernity (from Paul Bley to Joachim Kühn), Erwin Siffer is a key figure on the Alsatian jazz scene. Open to all forms of music, it was through improvising in a duet with a classical music performer around pieces from the repertoire that he realized that the music of Béla Bartók – with its harmonic colors, odd metrics and complex textures – was a particularly rich playground for a jazzman. Taking aboard drummer Gaspard Beck with his dry and precise style on the adventure, Erwin Siffer immerses himself into the modernity of the great Hungarian composer's language, bringing back melodies and rhythmic audacity from his explorations, thus opening new territories for his improvisations.
